COMO FUE ("How it was") (52 mins) A debut feature length doco-drama by award winning photographer Brett Hilder; an artist shown in galleries in New York, Sydney and regular features in Vogue Australia for over 20 years. Como Fue is a hauntingly poetic film, lingering on sensuous images of a young Sydney actress falling into the world of her upcoming role. As the actress ponders over pages of prose and passionate photos she relives the romantic and revolutionary life of her character Tina Madotta; a famous Cuban photographer, friend and lover of Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo and other luminaries of the Cuban art and political worlds. In Como Fue writer/director/photographer Brett Hilder recreates the life and work of Tina Madotti. An exhibition of his extraordinary photographs will accompany the film's premiere screenings - to invitated guests only - in Sydney this year.
